NUMBER OF MEALS SERVED
“Empowering Healing and Hope: Your Donation Fuels Our Fight Against Cancer.”
At Suwapath Weva—Meals With Metta, we provide nourishing meals to cancer patients and their families who travel from afar, often enduring great hardship.
Our mission is to build a community fueled by the joy of true, selfless giving, rooted in wholesome qualities such as:
- Metta (loving-kindness) : Wishing for the well-being of others
- Karuna (compassion) : Feeling and alleviating the suffering of others
- Mudita (altruistic joy) : Rejoicing in the development of others
- Upekkha (equanimity): Remaining balanced and unshaken in life’s challenges
By developing these qualities, we support cancer patients and their families. That’s not all though! We also inturn foster a cycle of kindness that will uplift and transform our lives and the lives of the community involved in this meritorious act too!
Apeksha Hospital, located in Maharagama, Sri Lanka, is a prominent institution dedicated to cancer care. Established in 1966, it has grown to become one of the leading cancer treatment centers in the country. Initially known as the Maharagama Cancer Hospital, it was renamed Apeksha Hospital to reflect its expanded mission and commitment to comprehensive cancer treatment and research.
The hospital provides a range of services including diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care for cancer patients. It is equipped with modern facilities and offers services such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical interventions. Apeksha Hospital also focuses on research and the development of new treatments, aiming to advance cancer care and improve patient outcomes.
Every Saturday, a dedicated food donation drive provides essential nourishment to cancer hospital patients, distributing 250-350 food packets. This initiative ensures that patients receive balanced, nutritious meals, crucial for maintaining their strength and aiding their recovery. The drive also supports patients’ families, who may be facing financial and emotional strains during their loved ones’ treatment. By contributing to this weekly effort, you help alleviate some of the burdens of cancer care, offering both physical sustenance and emotional support to those in need.
