Lumbini: The Final Birthplace of Our Great Bodhisatta (ලුම්බිණිය)

• Lumbini is the birthplace of the Supreme Buddha.
• There is a Viharaya, inside is a resemblance of Supreme Buddha’s footprint. This is the location where the Bodhisatta first placed feet on earth. Around this area is the viharaya built.
• Think of the occassion when all the worlds trembled during the birth of the Blessed One just like a Brahma stepping out his Brahma mansion. It was the sacred feet imprinted with thousand-spoked wheels with rims and hubs complete in every detail, pink in colour like the lotus petal. Before the Bodhisatta reached the ground, four gods received Him and placed the Bodhisatta by Queen Maha Maya. Just like a jewel-treasure was placed on a cloth from Kasi, His golden body emerged from the mother’s womb unsoiled by water, mucus, blood or any impurities, pure and clean. Bodhisatta opens His blue eyes as soon as he is born.
• This city is a place was visited by many devas, Brahmas and many animals watched this incident.

• The carving has been worn almost flat by centuries of veneration, but you can just discern the shape of Maya Devi grasping a tree branch and giving birth to the Buddha, with Indra and Brahma looking on.
• Directly beneath this is a marker stone encased within bulletproof glass, which pinpoints the spot where the Buddha was born.
• The sacred pond beside the temple is believed to be where Maya Devi bathed before giving birth to the Buddha.

එම ගෞරවනීය ඇරයුම පිළිගත් බෝසතාණන් වහන්සේ, කාලය – දීපය – දේශය – කුලය – මව යන පංචමහාවිලෝකනයන් සිදු කළ සේක.

කාලය – මිනිස් ආයුෂ අවුරුදු 120ක් වූ, සත්‍යය කුමක් ද? කුසලය කුමක් ද? (කිං සච්ච ගවේසි? කිං කුසල ගවේසි?) යන විමුක්තිකාමී යුගයක් හෙයින් සුදුසු කාලය යි.
දීපය – සියලු බුදු, පසේබුදුවරයන් වහන්සේලා ද සක්විති රජවරු ද බිහිවන පුණ්‍ය භූමිය වූ දඹදිව් තලය යි.
දේශය – දඹදිව මධ්‍ය මණ්ඩලයේ ශාක්‍ය දේශය යි
කුලය – ක්ෂත්‍රීය වංශයේ සුද්ධෝදන රජ පවුල යි
මව – පින්වන්ත, සීලවන්ත මහාමායා දේවිය යි.

ඉක්බිති, ඇසළ පුන් පොහෝ දිනක මව්දේවියට සුබ සිහින දක්වමින්, සිහිනුවණින් ම තුසිත දෙව්ලොවින් චුත වී, සිහිනුවණින් ම බෝසතාණන් වහන්සේ මහාමායා දේවියගේ කුස පිළිසිඳගත් සේක. මජ්ඣිම නිකායේ ආශ්චර්ය අද්භූත සූත්‍රයට අනූව සතරවරම් දෙවිවරුන්ගේ ආරක්ෂාව මධ්‍යයේ මව්කුස සුවසේ වැඩුණු බෝසත් කුමරාණන්, අකලට පිපුණු සල් මල්වලින් අලංකාර වූ ලුම්බිණි සල් වනයේ දී සිහිනුවණින් ම මෙලොවට ජනිත විය. බෝසත් කුමරු මුලින් ම රන්මසු දැලකින් පිළිගන්නා ලද්දේ, ශුද්ධාවාස බඹ ලොව අනාගාමී බ්‍රහ්මයන් විසිනි.

ඉන් පසු සතරවරම් දෙවිවරුන් අතට පත් වූ කුමරුන් මව්දේවියට පිළිගැන්වූයේ මෙලෙස පවසමිනි. “දේවිය, සතුටු වනු මැනවි. ඔබතුමියට ඉතා පින්බර පුත් කුමරෙකු උපන්නා.” මව්දේවියගේ අතින් ගිලිහී පොළොව මත සිඟිති පා තබද්දී පැනනැඟුණු පියුම් මතින් සත් පියවර තබා ඇවිදගොස් දකුණු අත ඉහළට ඔසවා මෙසේ සිංහනාද කළ සේක.

“අග්ගෝ හමස්මි ලෝකස්ස
සෙට්ඨෝ හමස්මි ලෝකස්ස
ජෙට්ඨෝ හමස්මි ලෝකස්ස
අයමන්තිමා ජාති, නත්ථිදානි පුනබ්භවෝති.”
“මම ලොවට අග්‍ර වෙමි. මම ලොවට ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨ වෙමි. මම ලොවට ජේ්‍යෂ්ඨ වෙමි. මේ මාගේ අන්තිම උපතයි. යළි ඉපදීමක් නැත්තේ ය.”
