All travel arrangements including hotel reservations, meals, ground transportation, and air ticketing are managed by Mahamegha Dharmayatra. The Pujas and teachings are organized by the monks of Colombo Dhamma Friends of Mahamevnawa.

Organized By

Join the monks of Mahamevnawa for “Dambadiva Vandana” to pay homage to the four sacred Places associated with the life of Gautama Buddha:

Lumbini (Lord Buddha’s birthplace in Nepal),
Bodh Gaya (where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment in India),
Sarnath (where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon in India),
and Kusinara (where Lord Buddha passed away in India).

This journey is suitable for the whole family with children and adults of all ages.

Cost

All of the Dhamma teachings in English and Sinhala will be done by the monks of Colombo Dhamma Friends at no charge. None of the fees paid go to the monks or the monastery.

All fees are paid directly to Mahamegha Dharmayatra. The fees cover:

Airfare round trip from Colombo to India
Ground transportation in luxury bus
Overnight accommodations, three people to a room (If you want to reserve a single or double room for the whole trip, an extra charge will be added.)
Three meals a day
All flowers for puja offerings (extra puja items are at your own expense)

Joining the pilgrimage to Dambadiwa was truly one of the best decisions my parents made for us. Those 11 days were filled with serenity, peace, and the profound guidance of the Noble Sangha, along with invaluable Dhamma teachings.

When do we, as laypeople, ever get such precious moments in life?
The feeling I had while walking towards the Sugandha Kutiya at Gijjakuta was indescribable — truly wonderful. As I left each of these sacred Buddha Bhumi, I couldn’t help but reflect on how blessed we were to have the opportunity to worship these Buddha bhumi… and how little merit we must have had to miss the era when our Budhurajananwahanse walked this earth.
It’s remarkable how these 11 days transformed our lives as a whole. I am deeply grateful to our Pinwath Loku Swaminwahansa and all the Swaminwahansas who made this sacred journey possible.
May everyone who reads this be inspired to join the pilgrimage organized by Mahamegha Dharma Yathra in collaboration with Buddha Rashmi India.
May our Pinwath Loku Swaminwahansa and all our Swaminwahansas attain the supreme bliss of Nibbana in this dispensation of Gautama Buddha.

It was truly the most meaningful eleven days of my life. From the very first day to the last, every moment was filled with inspiration and peace.

I felt as though I was living in the time of the Lord Buddha .It was a true ‘Daham Warusawak.”
The only thing missing was the physical presence of the Buddha and the Arahants, yet their blessings were felt deeply throughout. Every place we visited was unique and special in its own way, and the vandanawa experiences were simply amazing.
I was especially moved by the days spent at Jethavanaramaya. I didn’t want to leave. We were truly blessed to have the opportunity to sweep, wash, and decorate the ‘Suganda Kutiya.” The Vajirasana vandanawa was another unforgettable experience; we were fortunate to worship there four times.
Under the guidance of the Maha Sangha, every day felt like a retreat for the heart and soul. As Ape Loku Swaminwahansa beautifully said, the Swaminwahansela took us like flowers to these sacred places and brought us back to Sri Lanka just as beautifully only now, those flowers are more radiant and fragrant, filled with countless merits collected along the way.
